Idaho humbled by Aggies

The Idaho Vandals crumbled under pressure for the second week in a row, falling to Utah State 42-17 in their WAC opener in Logan, Utah.

Idaho led on three different occasions, but USU scored four touchdowns in the final 15:34 of the game.

It was another ugly loss for a team that was looking to rebound from a dismal game the week before against Western Michigan.

Idaho quarterback Nate Enderle went 20-for-35 with one interception and two touchdown passes. But he was sacked three times.

Utah State put up 580 yards of total offense, 224 in the air and 356 on the ground.

Please, please, please, get out of the WAC/1A and go back to the Big Sky conference. UI is fooling itself into thinking it can compete with these schools and it can’t. Would the egos who brought the Vandals into the WAC please step aside and allow others to come in and right the ship before it’s too late.

I don’t see that happening. Heaven forbid we let the smurfs down in Boise play in a different conference.
I’ve lived and played in the Big Sky Conference, and though there are some natural rivalries that can be fun, knowing that no matter how well you do, even winning a Championship Subdivision national title isn’t as fulfilling to me as the slim chance of going to a real bowl game.
I’ve enjoyed the Big Sky, I enjoyed covering the Frontier Conference of the NAIA, but it’s not the same as playing with the big dogs.
I know hope of competing with the likes of Fresno State and other WAC teams that are strong is tough, but I have hope that the ship is beginning to turn.
