Last night I watched my first wrestling match of the season and it reawakened my enjoyment of the sport.

Growing up around serious wrestlers and attending a high school where girls, generally, fought over wrestlers the way other high school girls fight over football players, I absorbed enough mat time to enjoy it. And last night was no different. Halfway through the meet I found myself yelling with the best of the fans and parents.

It is rare that I am so engrossed in a sport that I forget that my primary reason for attending is to observe, take notes, and then write a news story about the goings on. But I am not ashamed to say that is precisely what happened during a few bouts Wednesday.

So, I give my congrats and thanks to the wrestlers who won, and all those who competed, and reminded me, once again, why it is that I enjoy my job so very much.
