Looking forward to Saturday

College football week is finally here.
After talking to Robb Akey today, it sounds like the Idaho team is healthy and looking forward to its matchup against New Mexico State.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of Monday’s press conference came when Akey talked about establishing a winning tradition. He said going in to Saturday’s game the Vandals have one thing on their side - history. They beat NMSU last year.
Teaching his team how to expect to win has been something the enthusiastic coach has been waiting for.
Akey also said he and his coaches have the depth chart pretty set, at least as far as far as two-deep, but that they are still tinkering with who will step up in situational packages. It’s nice to hear the Vandals have options. They haven’t enjoyed that for a long time.
Like the coaches and players, I’m looking forward to seeing how Idaho does against someone else. Through camp the No. 1 and No. 2 offenses and defenses did nice things, but you can only gain so much knowledge when they are banging against each other.
It would be great to see the Vandals be 1-0 this time next week.
