UI/WSU enrollment predictions are up in the air

Washington State University Summer Session Director Linda Schoepflin said the uncertainty of the U.S. economy has made a difficult task nearly impossible.
University of Idaho Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management said the UI has seen a slight bump in summer enrollment so far, but it’s too early to draw any firm conclusions.
He said the UI will begin looking at summer as an option for students to stay on track to graduate even as economic pressures force many students to work more while they’re in school.
Schoepflin, on the other hand, said WSU has seen an approximately 9-percent decrease in summer enrollment. He also attributes the drop to the economy.
She said fewer students are able to afford tuition and rent in Pullman during the summer.
