President Duane Nellis announced Daley-Laursen will serve a one-year appointment as “senior executive to the university president with a particular focus on special federal initiatives,” according to a press release issued Thursday morning.
Daley-Laursen served as interim president this past year while the State Board of Education searched for a replacement for former president Tim White.
Tim White resigned from his position in May 2008 to become chancellor at the University of California - Riverside.
Nellis officially began his term as president July 1.
