Hansen, Horning win highway district commission seats

Richard E. Hansen of Harvard retained his Subdistrict 2 seat on the North Latah Highway District Commission by beating write-in candidate Nancy Maxeiner of Viola in Tuesday’s election.

Hansen received 354 votes and Maxeiner received 76, according to the unofficial tally by the Latah County Clerks Office.

Lee Horning of Deary unseated Subdistrict 3 Commissioner Orland H. Arneberg of Troy in a three-way race that also included Shawn Farley of Troy.

Unofficial numbers show Horning with 204 votes, Farley with 172 and Arneberg, who had served on the commission for more than 30 years, with 159.

A total of 889 votes were cast in the election.
