August 26, 2009, 2:47 pm
According to Idaho State Police incident report, Officer Rick Whitmore, 47, was riding his police motorcycle northbound on Mountain View Road near the intersection of Joseph Street at about 3:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 1995 Ford Ranger driven by Dawn Trottier, 42, of Moscow.
ISP Sgt. Rick Doty said Trottier was charged with inattentive driving, a misdemeanor, and received a citation for failure to provide proof of insurance.
Trottier was southbound on Mountain View and started to make an eastbound turn onto Joseph and did not see Whitmore’s motorcycle when she turned in front of him, according to the report. Whitmore was ejected from the motorcycle.
Whitmore was transported to Gritman Medical Center in Moscow, where he was listed in good condition Tuesday evening prior to his release.
Trottier was not injured in the crash.
