ELECTION 2009: Zehm, Arrasmith, Baggott lead Palouse City Council races

Darcie Baggott leads Dixie Lee Reber 194 votes (68 percent) to 92 votes (32 percent) in their Position 4 race.
Two measures on the Palouse ballot also received early support. Proposition 1, which funds street improvements and street oiling, has received 210 “yes” votes (70 percent) and 90 “no” votes (30 percent). Proposition 2, which provides money for operation and maintenance of the city’s swimming pool, has received 229 “yes” votes (76 percent) and 72 “no” votes (24) percent.
In Colton, a levy for general operations and improvement of the town streets and water system, has received 85 “yes” votes (70 percent) and 36 “no” votes (30 percent).
Ballots had to be postmarked by 5 p.m. Tuesday to be counted, and Whitman County election officials estimate there are 2,500 ballots still to be counted countywide. Updated election results are expected to be released at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
