U.S. Senate forum sees sparse turnout

The 20-year-old University of Idaho student was among about 60 students and local residents who attended a U.S. Senate open forum between Democratic candidate Larry LaRocco and Independent Rex Rammell at the 400-person-capacity UI Administration Building Auditorium on Wednesday night.
Robins said two things stood out to him at the Associated Students of the University of Idaho-sponsored event: Republican nominee and Lt. Gov. Jim Risch was not in attendance, and attendance was low.
“I don’t know why more people aren’t interested in this,” he said. “The national-level elections are larger and more exciting, but those people aren’t going to directly influence our lives like state and local elections will."
