May 21, 2009, 11:03 am

A recent Washington State University graduate was killed and two other students were injured in a one-vehicle rollover in Garfield County on Wednesday.

Tanya Guseva, 22, of Mukilteo, Wash., was declared dead at the scene.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Troy Briggs said James P. Monsey, 23, of Liberty Lake, Wash.,was eastbound on Almota Ferry Road in a 1998 Land Rover at about 5:15 p.m. with passengers Guseva and Allison L. Beach, 22, of Woodinville, Wash.

Monsey is believed to have lost control and rolled the vehicle near the Ilia Landing.

All occupants were ejected and the vehicle came rest in the eastbound lane. No one was wearing a seat belt.

Guseva graduated from WSU earlier this month, according to WSU spokesman Robert Strenge.

Monsey and Beach were taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, where they were listed in critical and fair condition, respectively, at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, SJRMC spokesman Doug Barton said.

Briggs said the cause of the accident is believed to be excessive speed and driving under the influence.

Charges against Monsey are pending.
