Lies and more lies
Wall Street economist and financier Steven Rattner’s recent opinion piece published in the “failing” New York Times merits close scrutiny (“Don’t Take Trump’s Word for It. Check the Data,” July 24).
Employing quantitative analysis based on credible sources, Rattner focuses on nine lies propagated by Agent Orange (aka D. Trump) in his speech at the recent Republican National Convention. These range from fantasy claims of the failures of the Biden presidency (jobs, inflation, debt, immigration) to spewing disinformation about tariffs, tax cuts and the war in Ukraine. Agent Orange stated that “President Biden is without question the worst president, the worst presidency in the history of our country.” One hundred and fifty current and former members of the Presidents and Executive Politics section of the American Political Science Association disagree. They rated Agent Orange at 45th, meaning last, with Biden coming in at number 14, ahead of Reagan (16), Carter (22) and George W. Bush (32).
The lackey JD Vance is now the vice president candidate on the Republican ticket. This is the guy who eight years ago described Agent Orange as an “idiot,” “reprehensible” and “America’s Hitler” during the 2016 election campaigns.
Let’s hope that voters in the seven swing states that will determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election are paying close attention.
